In the middle of the Laurisilva forest of Fanal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands a tree that looks like something out of a fairytale book with its gnarled shape and moss-covered branches: the so-called witch tree.
This ancient laurel tree is one of the many impressive trees that grow in this misty forest area. However, the witch tree stands out in particular due to its spooky shapes. Its branches twist towards the sky like dancing shadows, covered in mosses and lichens that give it an enchanted appearance. Dense fog often envelops the surroundings, adding to the mystical atmosphere and giving the impression of being in another world.
