Artist's description:
This photograph is part of my township of Langa series, which means literally “the sun” and which I shot during my holiday in 2015 in South Africa, Cape Town. On a tour we walked approximately 1.5 hours through parts of the township of Langa.
I perfectly remember the feeling I had walking through the streets and which returns viewing the pictures.
I was totally ashamed and horrified because of the living conditions and the poverty in the township, even as there is a variety from absolutely poor to families who own or rented a smalll single-family house. Townships are at least as much about social societies than about poverty.
