Artist's description:
Guacamayas (macaws in English), are a type of parrot commonly found in Medellin, Colombia. Prior to construction of the city, these animals called the Valley of Aburrá (where Medellín currently rests) their home. For the past 15 years local government authorities have worked hand in hand with the local zoo to release many of these wonderful birds that had been previously kept in captivity and many others have returned to their natural habitat inside the city. It's very normal (and quite a spectacle!) to see flocks of these macaws flying and living in trees arounds homes and buildings in harmony with people.
