Artist's description:
"One of the rare figure paintings in the work of the still life and landscape painter Alexander Kanoldt is this depiction, which in terms of motif seems to be close to the verism of Otto Dix. (...) Although Kanoldt avoids Dix's critical overdrawing and, above all, the pictorial tectonics as a balancing moment, he unmasks (...) a form of lack of connection and skepticism, which is probably also to be addressed as symptomatic of the lifestyle of the Golden Twenties."
