School for orphans in Uganda

Project Goals

We want to build a school for orphans in Uganda. As the walls are going to be built from bricks, the top and bottom panel will be poured in reinforced concrete. This way we establish a solid floor on which infections and diseases can't spread. With €1000, we cover the costs for the armoring - iron bars, which are embedded in the concrete like a net to prevent cracks from the weight they carry.

Project Location

Uganda, Africa

Project Details

Help us rebuild a school for orphans in Uganda. The John Bosco School for Orphans is located in the village Katosi, near the capital: Kampala. It's a small fisher village which has been hit hard by Aids, which is why many children there have lost their parents. We are working together with a small local organisation on site, Step up Uganda, which consists of local members only, and up to now has been depending entirely on donations by the village community. The school building is built from wood, as no other material could be afforded. There are, however, termites in Katosi, which have led the school building to collapse.

For the children, this school ist their only chance to recieve a proper education, as in Uganda, schools usually charge high fees. The John Bosco School only accepts orphans and underpriviledged children whose parents can’t afford to pay for the school fees. At the moment, 70 orphans and 70 underpriviledged children from 1st to 7th grade attend the John Bosco School. They also receive breakfast and lunch at school every day.

100% of all donations go into the construction of the school building. The goal is to not only preserve the building, but also enable more children to attend.

Tree Amount
346.128
Since 2021 we've already been able to plant 346.128 trees thanks to the pictures sold on Photocircle. They will absorb approximately 27.690.240 kg CO₂ within the next five years and improve the living conditions of the people locally.
