As a Central European, you probably imagine beautiful August weather as a warm, sunny day. In the Icelandic Highlands, however, the world looks quite different. Kerlingarfjöll is a volcanic mountain range in the Icelandic highlands. Even in summer, conditions prevail here that are unlike almost any winter we experience here. This was also the case on the August day this photo was taken. It was stormy, snowing, and cold. Just as a heavy snow shower had passed, the sun briefly illuminated the freshly snow-covered mountain. An impressive moment!
