Artist's description:
Ella Fitzgerald, who was later also called the First Lady of Song, was born in Virginia in 1917 and, alongside Billie Holiday, was one of the most important American jazz vocalists of all time. Fitzgerald made her debut as a singer at the age of seventeen in 1934 at the Apollo Theater in New York: Originally, she wanted to compete as a dancer, but then her legs trembled with excitement so that she sang instead. Ella Fitzgerald's trademark was a type of singing that she helped develop and that made her world famous: scat singing.
